Myspace ‘suicide’ incident shocks the nation

Earlier this week a bizarre and sick incident occured in a small town west of St. Louis has erupted in dispute. What happened was that a young girl named Megan Meier had befriended the daughter of Lori Drew, which eventually broke up. In spite of the event of the broken friendship, Lori Drew along with a hired employee, created a fake Myspace account, taking the identity of, “A handsome 16-year-old boy”, who developed a relationship with Megan. Later, the fake boyfriend broke-up with Megan Meier, threatened, and harassed her. Megan, of 13, had already had emotional problems in the past, and in light of the events, committed suicide. She hung herself in her bedroom. Lori Drew is now being prosecuted on not Megan’s death, but violating Myspace’s terms, and may face up to ten years in prision. She may be charged for involuntary manslaughter, and deliberately and severely tampering with the emotions of another human. Reports from the LA Times and The Cuban Revolution.
